چکیده
This paper presents the results for an experimental campaign of in-situ impact during tension-tension fatigue loading open-hole carbon fibre reinforced polymer specimens. High-speed low energy was introduced to specimen with use a canon, which attached testing bench enabling without need remove specimens from test bench. Digital Image Correlation, C-scan and Acoustic Emission were utilized record health monitoring data damage diagnostics. A strain-based criterion used identify common threshold timing ensuring fair comparison between different tests. The indicate that while causes total amount increase as one would expect, it does not necessarily level in critical area where final fracture occurs. dependence on moment failure found subjected before initiation loading. In contrast, impacting presence had no detrimental effect life, although observed damaged enlarged. Overall, showcases study systemically life order understand better implications may be integrity composite structure.

Finite Element Analysis of Low Velocity Impact on Carbon Fibers/Carbon Nanotubes Reinforced Polymer Composites
An effort is made to gain insight on the effect of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on the impact response of carbon fiber reinforced composites (CFRs) under low velocity impact. Certain amount of CNTs could lead improvements in mechanical properties of composites. In the present investigation, ABAQUS/Explicit finite element code (FEM) is employed to investigate various damages modes of nano composites ...
متن کاملFretting Fatigue Behaviour of Pin-Loaded Thermoset Carbon-Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) Straps
This paper focuses on the fretting fatigue behaviour of pin-loaded carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) straps studied as models for rigging systems in sailing yachts, for suspenders of arch bridges and for pendent cables in cranes. Eight straps were subjected to an ultimate tensile strength test. In total, 26 straps were subjected to a fretting fatigue test, of which ten did not fail. An S–N...
متن کاملCharacterization and analysis of carbon fibre-reinforced polymer composite laminates with embedded circular vasculature.
A study of the influence of embedded circular hollow vascules on structural performance of a fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite laminate is presented. Incorporating such vascules will lead to multi-functional composites by bestowing functions such as self-healing and active thermal management. However, the presence of off-axis vascules leads to localized disruption to the fibre architectu...
متن کاملStability Analysis for Pitched Portal Frames of Fibre Reinforced Polymer
In this paper the analysis method from Majid (1963) for steel pitched portal frames is progressed so that we can study the influence of shearing action on the overall elastic critical buckling load when members are of Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) material. For solid members of FRP the ratio of the longitudinal Young’s modulus to the shear modulus of elasticity can be significantly higher than...
متن کاملNatural Fibre Reinforced Biodegradable Polymer Composites
Currently, numerous research groups have explored the production and properties of biocomposites where the polymer matrices are derived from renewable resources such as poly lactide (PLA), thermoplastic starch (TPS), cellulose and polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs). This review is carried out to evaluate the development and properties of natural fibre reinforced biodegradable polymer composites. They...
